Photograph was taken at Congo Square in New Orleans, Louisiana during Ti Mache opening ceremony for Krewe du Kanaval. This was in celebration of Fete Gede. Chakra Dance Theatre & Omosede Children's Dance Theatre were performing a Banda gede dance of the spirit of death. Banda is a dance for the Haitian Gede spirits whose manifestations and movement make known their abilities to take life, heal, and create laughter.
